The Master Piece Totem by Nansi Hemming, in Sintra!

The Master Piece Totem, by Nansi Hemming

 

Eucalyptus Centennial that was at risk of being destroyed due to a mold infestation, was carved (in 10 days) in homage to the various species present in the Serra de Sintra.
The Totem (rooted) was carved around by chainsaw and is in Pedagogical Farm Monserrate, has 7.5 meters high and three meters in diameter.
For this Project was invited to, Welsh Artist Nansi Hemming, who inherited  from his father this magnificent art.
In all, 17 carved animals and plants representing the Fauna and Flora that populate the Serra de Sintra: the Bonelli Eagle of the Beetle Lucanus cervus, the owl from the woods, the Bat-horseshoe-of-small the Fritillary Butterfly-of-marshes, Badger, Lizard-of-water, the Viper, the Holly and Oak, among others. Unfortunately, some of these species face extinction danger.Is not it beautiful? ... and the most curious thing about this fabulous artist, she`s living in a motorhome, and travels the world spreading these magnificent works of art!

 



Eucalipto Centenário que estava em risco de ser destruído devido a uma infestação de fungos, foi esculpido (em 10 dias) em homenagem às diversas espécies existentes na Serra de Sintra.
O Totem (enraizado) foi todo esculpido a motoserra e encontra-se na Quintinha Pedagógica de Monserrate, tem 7,5 metros de altura e três metros de diâmetro.
Para este Projeto foi convidada a Artista Galesa Nansi Hemming, que herdou do pai esta magnifica arte.
Ao todo, foram esculpidos 17 animais e plantas, que representam a Fauna e a Flora que povoa a Serra de Sintra:  a Águia-de-bonelli, o Escaravelho Lucanus Cervus, a Coruja-do-mato, o Morcego-de-ferradura-pequeno, a Borboleta fritilária-dos-pântanos, o Texugo, o Lagarto-de-água, a Víbora, o Azevinho e o Carvalho, entre outros. Infelizmente, algumas destas espécies enfrentam perigo de extinção.
Não é lindo?... e o mais curioso desta fabulosa Artista é que vive numa autocaravana, percorre o mundo e espalha estas magnificas obras-de-arte!

Our walk - 26 km to the SEA!

Today I overcame my record of 18 km walk for 26 Kilometers! Nelson and I headed out of the house by 8 am, bound for the beach Samarra (Sintra). This time we took two dogs, our Giant Will (Newfoudland 2 years) and our bébe Aqua (Serra de Aires 5 months) ... well, come to Aqua lap in return because it is still a baby. Let you indulge with the photos of this long walk .... because all my Roads lead to my Sea!..... Enjoy It!

Hoje superei o meu recorde de 18 km (a pé) para 26 Kilómetros! Eu e o Nelson saímos de casa pelas 8 da manhã com destino à praia da Samarra (Sintra). Desta vez levamos 2 cães, o nosso gigante Will (Terranova de 2 anos) e a nossa bebe Aqua (Serra de Aires com 5 meses)... bem a Aqua veio ao colo no regresso porque ainda é bebe. Deixo-vos deliciarem-se com as fotos desta  longa caminhada.... porque todos meus caminhos vão sempre dar, ao meu Mar!...
